biography
Elizabeth Russell is a lyric coloratura soprano possessing a bright and clear tone that is matched by her attention to detail and emotionally supportive and polished artistry. She prides herself on her ability to dazzle not only with her voice, but her contrastive and vast acting capabilities.
Elizabeth is looking forward to singing with the Peabody Opera Theatre once again this Fall
as Stella Kowalski in André Previn's
A Streetcar Named Desire and next Spring in Peabody's Opera In Action as Mother in Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Elizabeth previously performed with
Peabody Opera as Yvette and Georgette in Puccini's La Rondine in March 2020
as well as Madame Herz in Mozart's
Der Schauspieldirektor in October of 2019.
Liz's previous acting credits include Amy March in Mark Adamo's Little Women, Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel, Galatea in Acis and Galatea by Handel, and Reno Sweeney in Cole Porter's musical Anything Goes.
She has sung with the Des Moines Metro Opera and the Minnesota Opera Company and has worked with renowned music and stage directors such as the late
Robert Larsen, Garnett Bruce,
Antony Walker, and Laurie Rogers.
Ms. Russell is also adept in arts administration, with four years of experience working as the Undergraduate Assistant to the Chair of the Music Department at Simpson College as well as serving as a Patron Services Intern for
Des Moines Metro Opera and the
Marketing Communications Student Assistant at the Peabody Conservatory.
She most recently acted as the Administrative Coordinator of Baltimore Bows, a division of the Chamber Encounters Music Academy, in Baltimore, MD.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Simpson College and is currently seeking her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Peabody Conservatory under the tutelage of
Elizabeth Futral. She splits her time between Baltimore, Maryland and Anaheim, California.
When Liz isn't performing, she enjoys taking Pure Barre classes, curling up on the
couch with Luana (her small black cat,) and
creating new content for her
graphic design business.
